Council Member Paul Vallone was proud to co-host the 71st Annual Korean Independence Day at City Hall Monday night. Over three hundred friends, families, guests and dignitaries joined in a celebration that filled the Council Chambers. This year marks the first time this event has been held under the current administration and Council Member Vallone looks forward to continuing it for years to come.
Guests at the event were treated to spectacular traditional performances from the New York Korean-American Chorale and the Dance Team, String Quartet and Soloists from the Long Island School of Music and Art. Among the night’s honorees were the Kwang Bok Association of New York, the Korean Unification Association of Greater New York and Minsun Kim, President of the Korean American Association of Greater New York (KAAGNY).
“The Korean Independence Day event at City Hall was a true testament of what the Korean-American community is all about – family, faith, pride in country and the celebration of culture and heritage,” said Council Member Paul Vallone. “The Korean-American community is integral to our great City and I’m proud to have been able to recognize the night’s honorees, who have all played an enormous role in preserving Korean culture. It was truly an amazing night for all the family, friends, guests and dignitaries in attendance.”
